Last summer, the YouTube algorithm took me on a journey into lo-fi film photography. I was five years late to the party, but better late than never.
These YouTubers convinced me to buy a cheap 35mm camera. It’s fun they said, and your photos will have that vintage, grainy look with blurriness around the edges.
I bought three cheap cameras. The one I took to Montreal was a Kodak Ektar H35N. It’s a half-frame camera, which means that each photo uses only half the space of a standard 35mm photo, which also means photos are portrait-oriented by default, which also means you get double the pictures of a standard 35mm camera, which also means each image is half the resolution of a standard 35mm photo.
I popped in a roll of Fujifilm 400 and started snappin’. Here are some of the photos. Enjoy.
